Zippers are tough!

I mean tough!    3 hours to get 1 done and 1 ready to start.  I got home and thought I could finish and suddenly became best friends with my seam ripper.  I had to take the next zipper out TWICE!  I finally got it and turned the everything off so I could watch the Oscars!

Getting things lined up and ready to go.

Adding a top stitch was difficult but I did it!

Bionic Gear Bag Sew Along Part 2

So happy I found this !   What a great help

Sewing project 2a

I spent two nights this week getting everything going for the project.  I finished cutting the second bag out.  It was much easier this time. Bonus was being at home in my own space with the music going.

Looking forward to class tomorrow.
My Craft room.  I am very grateful to have a space to work.  I moved all the scrapbooking gear to the side and cut out the second bag.  I really am feeling good about this project.

This is the only actual "pattern: in the project.  The rest is standard square or rectangle cuts .    I have a new appreciation for my Fiskars tools!

The next day I got everything ironed and confirmed I had everything.  Then I cut out all the interfacing and ironed that to the required pieces.   Interfacing gives the fabric a bit of body and stiffness but not too much.
Here is bag 1
Here is bag 2

This is the fabric with the interfacing added on.

Life With LuLu the crazy Kitty

Sewing Project Class 2

I found what I am hoping is the perfect project.  The Bionic Gear Bag .  Everyone knows I love bags, Lunch bags, Packing cubes, Purses, Backpacks.  I love them all.  I think this bag will be great.   But immediately i decided I wanted 2, one for traveling and another for electronics.   Go big or go home, Right?

One of the reasons I close it is that it looks challenging for a beginner and with the help of this class I think I can accomplish it.  There are a lot of zippers!

Christina and I spent 3 hours at the fabric store picking our fabric choices.  That was harder than I thought it would be!

My plan is to focus on one bag in class and do a second at home on my own.   We will see how that goes!

Progress in class.   All cuts made for bag number 1.

Sewing Project

On the 8th Christina, Wendy and I went to our first sewing class.  I am not a seamstress by any means.  This is a basic class where I am hoping to get comfortable with a sewing machine.  Next step it to pick a project.   More posts to follow.
